“One of the luckiest things that can
happen to you in life is, I think, to have a happy childhood.”
-Agatha Christie
Yes, exactly most of us
believe and repeat these lines at least once a week. The reasons may be
uncountable and each small thing stored in ROM that makes you feel to reach the
past and live those moments again. Our journey from off womb to day so far (where
we are rushing for those 2K notes) has always been crazy and even then we never
complained about accepting these changes. Being from initial years of last
decade of 20th Century and thereafter adjusting our teen life in 21st
may never be perfect. I have tried in ths article to have a ride back along
with my 90’s mates in minutes and smile wherever it feels to .
Have you seen a
venturimeter? It’s a conical tube where a pipe diameter suddenly enlarges and
WE are the one who are stuck exactly in between. One side we have our parents
with really some good views but not ready to accept so called modernisation
while the other almost open source code. The era where everything you find in
minutes ! Yes even love. We have seen ghoongat
wala marriages and so we have some live-in relationship matters too. Things
have changed from telegrams to tring
tring phones to ‘very much smart phones’.
We have witnessed those
bell bottom jeans to skinny ones and Rajasaheb to Jockeys. In adjusting from
our Jockey (haha) and our life we
have struggled so much.
The struggle doesn’t
ends here even. After this we have our generation who won’t ask us to
understand but it will be us again to adjust according to their deeds and
requirements and so we will SINCE WE ARE
FROM THE 90’s.
Grammar nazis!! You
have to understand, that for us,English was just an academic subject . You have
to bear us and our ‘I did not told’ SINCE WE ARE FROM THE 90’s.
Finding a perfect
childhood DP for our whatsapp profile on Children’s Day is a hard task for us.
We don’t have those 720p HD pictures of ours and that too in candid. Our rude, mustache wale uncle were very much
concern of his 36 clicks of roll. Yes, we may have blur photos of ours, but
memories are still much sacred SINCE WE
ARE FROM THE 90’s.
In 21st,
where we find so many recreational places with extra professional happenings that
make you the one who you never were. To dance on floors with etiquette and
grace is definitely not our type. My uncle has taught me some basics and so if
my Shadi Wala Dance leaks out, please
don’t stare me as if I don’t belong to this planet. Just give us 10 minutes to
calm down as we don’t just mark our steps right but feel each wave of music SINCE WE ARE FROM THE 90’s.
Sorry if you find us
eating with the hands and keeping fork-spoon aside at hotels. Yes, it is berserk
to handle that dosa and postmortem it
to see if whether aloo is well cooked
or not. I don’t feel the taste
changes till hands are well sanitized. So please let us eat with zero guilty as
we have it for appetite and not for in routine SINCE WE ARE FROM THE 90’s.
Oh shit! Those balloon
advertisements! I mean those preventive equipment! Argh! Those Condom ads!
Sorry, but only we know how embarrassing it feels to be with your parents and
enact like you didn’t know its on TV. Running for remote, running for glass of
water, running for cellphone and in short running off the situation. Never that
easy! We rarely had those sex education campaign but if we are not comfortable about
talking it at some places, it is that we understand the appropriate situations
for major things SINCE WE ARE FROM THE
90’s.
We are definitely aware
about most brands of Daaru, but you
will find us saying it daaru only. For
us alcohol is that which makes you a person with no ethics and no job and no
future. So if you find us saying ‘pee ke
ghar nahi jaa sakta’ is that to keep my parents’ view the same for mine.
Yes, we have ethics, a good job and may be a future too. So, don’t make our
mock as we really care for them SINCE WE
ARE FROM THE 90’s.
You know what!! I am
really scared of making this read to my father. I am clueless of how he will
take some of the things. I am really close to him but then I remember getting
him like Triple-H sometimes SINCE WE
ARE FROM THE 90’s.
So many things more!!
May be this post will ask you to keep few minutes out and cherish your
childhood fun again and to think on how the things have changed so far.
Moreover you were the one who were so flexible about everything and you may
have to be throughout your life.
Be child wherever and
whenever you get time!
I wish all of you a
very HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY . Stay alive!!
Thanks Ruchika for
reviewing it and for your kind appreciation.
Regards
and love,
